Mikumi National Park is one of Tanzania’s most accessible wildlife areas, located near Dar es Salaam. It forms part of the larger Selous ecosystem and features open savannahs, wooded hills, and the scenic Mkata floodplain. The park is home to elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, hippos, and a wide variety of birds. Often compared to the Serengeti for its landscape, Mikumi offers great game viewing with fewer crowds. It’s an excellent destination for short safaris and weekend trips from the city.
